At Healing Souls Sanctuary, every animal has a story, and today we want to share the inspiring journey of Handi, our three-month-old rooster. Handi came to us with a serious crop impaction, leaving him unable to eat properly and causing him to walk awkwardly, much like a penguin. He was left behind by the other animals, struggling to find his place in the world.
Upon his arrival, we noticed that Handi had a smelly yeast breath, indicating an underlying issue that needed immediate attention. His condition was critical; he couldn’t poop, and we knew that if he continued to eat without proper digestion, it could lead to severe complications.
To help Handi, we began a treatment plan that included gentle massaging of his crop to relieve the impaction. We also administered 1 ml of coconut oil to act as a natural laxative, aiding in the passage of the stuck grains. Understanding that his diet needed to be adjusted, we ground his corn into finer dust to prevent any large pieces from causing further blockage.
To provide Handi with a safe and comfortable space, we created a cozy cabin using a night table and blankets, allowing him to rest away from any intimidation from the other animals. This quiet environment has been essential for his recovery, giving him the peace he needs to heal.
As we continue to care for Handi, we remain hopeful for his recovery. Our team is dedicated to providing him with the love and attention he deserves. We are committed to sharing updates on his progress and the journey of healing he is undertaking.
