Princess’s journey began in the most unlikely of places—a scrapyard, where she was surviving under cars, fending for herself. It was a rainy day when we met her. While waiting for our car to be repaired, we noticed a tiny orange tabby cautiously approaching us, meowing softly. She was so affectionate, rubbing against our legs and sitting calmly beside us as if she had known us forever.
It was clear Princess had been through a lot. Covered in fleas, she had rashes all over her body and open wounds from what we suspected were fights with other animals. The wound on her neck seemed to be the result of male cats attacking her in her harsh environment. Despite her thick fur, we could feel how fragile and skinny she was. Her emerald green eyes were clouded, likely from years of street fights, and her frail body told the story of a hard life on the streets.

We shared our lunch with her, and she devoured every last crumb in seconds, a clear sign that she had been starving for days. Her eyes, though cloudy, were filled with gratitude and desperation. We knew we couldn’t leave her behind.
Concerned for her health, we put her up for adoption on our website, but her poor condition made many people hesitant. Between the fleas, her skin rashes, and a possible ringworm infection, no one was willing to take her in.
That’s when Healing Souls Sanctuary stepped in. We raised the funds to treat her fleas, worms, and other ailments. Her open wounds were cleaned and medicated, and over time, her skin began to heal. Thanks to one of our kindhearted volunteers, Colleen, who fostered Princess while she recovered, she was given the time and care she desperately needed.
One challenge we noticed during her foster care was that Princess wasn’t used to using a litter box—having spent her whole life outdoors. When Melanie, one of our sanctuary volunteers, heard her story, she immediately knew her open-concept home was the perfect place for Princess. Melanie’s home allowed Princess to go outside freely, just as she was used to, while still having a warm, loving environment to come back to.
Today, Princess is thriving. She spends most of her time indoors with the family, looking for affection and cuddles. While she prefers to do her business outside, she’s become the perfect companion—grateful for every hug and kiss she receives. Her transformation from a scrapyard stray to a beloved family member is nothing short of a miracle, and it reminds us that every animal, no matter how tough their past, deserves a second chance.
