At Healing Souls Sanctuary, our mission is to support local farmers and animal caregivers who provide safe, caring environments for animals. Each week, we assess the most urgent needs in our community. Whether you can donate, volunteer, or simply share our efforts, your support goes a long way. Here’s how you can make a difference this week:
Please note: Our services are currently available in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, but we are working hard to expand to other areas. Thank you for supporting us as we grow our reach!
🔧 Farm Infrastructure and Maintenance Needs
Water System Improvements
What’s Needed: Help with extending hoses, fixing water connections, and maintaining electric fences to ensure animals have access to safe and reliable water sources.
How You Can Help: If you have experience with plumbing or fencing, consider volunteering a few hours. We also need donations of hoses, connectors, and fencing supplies.
Paddock Management
What’s Needed: Volunteers to assist with daily paddock changes, supporting animal movement and pasture health.
How You Can Help: Volunteer for a few hours to assist with moving animals between paddocks and ensuring they have fresh grazing areas.
Stable Improvements and Goat Stable Relocation
What’s Needed: Assistance with stable maintenance and repairs, plus relocating a goat stable approximately 50 meters to a new location on the farm.
How You Can Help: If you have building experience or can lend physical support, your help would be invaluable. We also welcome donations of building materials and tools.
🩺 Veterinary Care and Nutritional Support
Veterinary Care and Animal Feed
What’s Needed: Support for essential veterinary care and donations of animal feed to maintain the health of rescued and farm animals.
How You Can Help: Donate funds to cover veterinary visits or contribute bags of feed. If you have experience in animal health, volunteering your expertise would be an immense help.
Nutritional Guidance for Animals
What’s Needed: Volunteers with experience in animal nutrition to provide guidance and support.
How You Can Help: If you’re a vet, animal nutritionist, or have relevant experience, consider offering a consultation to ensure the animals are getting balanced diets.
🐐 Animal Care and Rehoming
Pet Adoption Support
What’s Needed: We have animals in need of loving homes, including dogs, cats, and some smaller farm animals.
How You Can Help: If you’re considering adopting or fostering, please reach out! Even sharing our adoption posts on social media helps us find homes for these animals.
🐄 Support for an Elderly Farmer
Fence and Corral Repairs
What’s Needed: An elderly farmer with a 4-hectare property and four cows needs assistance with fence and corral repairs to improve the safety and stability of the animals' living space.
How You Can Help: Volunteers with carpentry skills or fencing experience would be ideal. Donations of wood, metal, or fencing materials are also greatly appreciated.
🐔 Additional Needs
Chicken Coop Construction
What’s Needed: Materials are available for building a chicken coop, but we need hands-on support to complete the project.
How You Can Help: If you have construction skills or experience with coop building, we would love to have your help on-site.
General Donations
What’s Needed: Funds to cover various supplies and unexpected costs that come up during the week.
How You Can Help: Any financial contribution is helpful, no matter the amount, as it goes directly toward maintaining and improving the conditions for animals and farmers alike.
